Walk the route through the home
Start at the entrance and trace everyday movement to the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, balcony and utility areas. Look for wasted corridors, door conflicts and routes that push guests through private parts of the home.

Test rooms with real furniture
Place beds, wardrobes, sofas, dining tables and appliances at realistic sizes. Check the space needed to open drawers and doors. This often reveals whether a stated room size is actually usable.

Check privacy, light and storage
Consider views from corridors and neighbouring buildings, daylight depth, window positions and where everyday possessions will go. A plan that relies on later furniture to solve privacy or storage is usually not finished.
