Match the material to the exposure
Wet areas, facades, kitchens, floors and shaded interiors face different conditions. Confirm resistance to moisture, UV, impact, staining and cleaning methods for the actual location of use.
Inspect the detail as well as the sample
The junction around corners, drains, doors, skirtings and service penetrations often determines whether a finish remains neat. A good sample without a resolved detail can still produce poor work.
Plan maintenance and replacement
Ask how the material is cleaned, what products are required, whether repairs are visible and whether matching replacement stock is likely to exist. Ownership cost is affected by these answers.
