Resilient Design
Resilience begins with ordinary climate and maintenance decisions.
Heat, rainfall, water, power, materials and maintainability are reviewed for the conditions the property is expected to face over time.
Design for weather
Shade, drainage, waterproofing, roof details and landscape levels should respond to local heat and rainfall before additional systems are asked to compensate for poor basic design.
Plan for service interruptions
Where the project requires backup power, water storage or other resilience measures, capacity, fuel or operating cost, controls and maintenance need to be realistic.
Choose durable, repairable systems
A resilient component is not only one that lasts. Access to parts, technicians and replacement routes affects whether the property can recover quickly when something fails.
